1. Name the goal and the date
Write one line for each goal: what the money is for, when you expect to need it, and the amount you are working towards. A home purchase, a career break, and retirement have different timelines. Avoid treating them as a single pot with a single purpose.
2. Map the commitments around it
List everyday spending, debts, dependants, and existing insurance alongside your goals. Note which resources are readily available and which have restrictions. This gives you a starting point for identifying questions to research or discuss with a professional.
3. Ask what could change
For each goal, ask what happens if the cost rises, your income changes, or you need the money sooner. Record what you would be comfortable adjusting. Keep this worksheet as a conversation starter; it is not a product recommendation or a personalised financial plan.
